Frequently Asked Questions

  Elimitrax

What is the Elimitrax Over-Boot System?

Elimitrax is a two piece hunting system worn over existing hunting boots and can cover up to the hunter’s thigh. Elimitrax completely and totally eliminates ground scent and even scent left on taller foliage. If unprotected this human and material ground scent can last for days alerting animals, turning them nocturnal and eventually forcing them from your area.

Elimitrax uses a newly patented plastic that took over 3 years to engineer. It’s completely and totally, 100% odorless unlike any other hunting footwear or garment including “scent free” rubber boots.

A medium weight 100% polyester material is impregnated with Elimiscent plastics and then coated twice on the inside and once on the outside. The soles are made of the same flexible 100% odorless plastic which leaves absolutely no trace of odor on the ground or foliage. (top)

Does it work?

Yes, Elimitrax have been tested and proven through extensive scientific testing, on wild game animals and even by trained bloodhound tracking dogs. Scientists have proven that Elimitrax produce less than 1/10 of the emissions from “scent free” hunting boots. More importantly is the fact that any emissions from Elimitrax smell like natural occurring air in any given environment. This means that your ground scent is unrecognizable by any animal in any environment. It’s truly as if you were never there.

Elimitrax have been documented to be undetectable to both wild game animals and trained bloodhound tracking dogs, but what matters most to hunters is that Elimitrax have been proven 100% effective in thousands of real hunting situations. Outfitters who require their clients to wear Elimitrax report that their hunter’s success rates soared and that their stands still produce even after extensive hunting. (top)

How does Elimitrax compare with carbon suits?

Carbon suits are basically a filter to reduce airborne human scent. They do work to some degree and I do advocate wearing them however, they do not control ground scent. If you hunt with the wind in your favor, as you should, airborne human scent is less of an issue. Ground scent however, will remain detectable up to days and will ruin your hunting area. Elimitrax blocks all ground scent and airborne scent up to your thigh leaving your area as if you were never there. Elimitrax is truly the most important piece of hunting gear you can own. (top)

Do Elimitrax make noise when walking?

No. Elimitrax material is impregnated then coated twice on the inside and once on the outside with Elimiscent plastics technology. This minimizes surface area therefore not only is it totally odorless but also resists picking up foreign odors which is a major problem with fleece and other cloth products. While Elimiscent material is not as quiet as fleece, Elimitrax has been engineered to be quiet. There are cinch straps on the outside of the legs that gather any loose material so you can walk quietly when wearing them. This is attested by numerous testimonials from hunters who have successfully stalked and arrowed game. The only measurable noise that you might experience would be from walking through briers or thorns. (top)

Are Elimitrax waterproof?

Elimitrax were not designed to take the place of hip waders, but they are waterproof up to 11.6 pounds which allows you to remain dry when walking through dew or rain soaked fields and even when crossing shallow streams. If you get in water over your knee the water pressure at your foot will exceed 11.6 pounds and water will slowly seep in. (top)

Are Elimitrax hot?

Elimitrax have been completely sealed with Elimiscent plastics to totally and completely block any human and material odors from contaminating the environment. This means they do not breath, if they did their purpose would be defeated. If you are hunting on a particularly warm day Elimitrax may be worn below the knee which makes them no warmer than a typical rubber hunting boot. If you need to walk through taller foliage just pull them up to your thigh and then lower them again as the foliage allows. On cold days Elimitrax will block the bone chilling wind. (top)

Can you climb trees with Elimitrax?

Elimitrax are form fitting and easy to wear. Most hunters DO climb trees while wearing Elimitrax however, we recommend that they are removed at the base of your tree and stored in their scent free carrying case prior to climbing. That decision is up to the hunter, but again most hunters do climb with Elimitrax. (top)

How are Elimitrax sized?

Size regular Elimitrax will fit over hunting boots from size 9 to 11. The large Elimitrax will fit from size 11-1/2 to 14.5. If you are wearing extremely large pac boots add one to two sizes depending on how large the pac boots are. In other words, if you wear a 10-1/2 boot you would typically wear an Elimitrax regular, but if you plan on wearing large pac boots you should order size large. (top)

How durable are Elimitrax?

Elimitrax soles are practically indestructible and the uppers are also very durable, barbed wire is the only thing that needs to be avoided. Elimitrax should last many seasons with normal wear. (top)

Can I use an attractent scent?

Absolutely, you can create an attractant trail that will fool any buck assuming you are using quality scents during the right time of year. Be careful not to contaminate Elimitrax by getting scent directly on them, always use a drag rag. The only thing that the animals will smell is pure scent. There are no rubber or human odors to confuse or alert game animals. (top)

Should I use cover scents?

No. Elimitrax will be less effective if contaminated with any cover scent. There is no better scenario than to smell invisible while hunting. Wear Elimitrax and your quarry will be completely oblivious to your presence. (top)

Should I wear Elimitrax when leaving my stand?

Yes, every time you walk to or from your stand you are leaving ground scent which will turn game animals nocturnal. If pressured enough they will leave the area all together. (top)

How do I care for Elimitrax?

Elimitrax are easy to care for, simply machine or hand wash and air dry. We recommend that Elimitrax are washed after every 5 to 6 times they are worn unless you know they have been contaminated which would require washing before your next hunt. We recommend using only Sport-Wash because it leaves very little residue unlike other hunting detergents. (top)

How long are the legs in the Elimitrax?

Elimitrax are 32” and cover the thigh for walking through taller foliage but can be lowered if hunting in hot weather. (top)
